KEIGHLEY
WAR CASUALTIES
Private Joseph Smith, West Riding Regiment, son of Mr and Mrs John Smith, of 5, Barrett Street, Parkwood, Keighley, who has been reported missing seventeen months, has now been reported dead by the Army Council. Aged 26 years, he enlisted in early November, 1914, and in the following July went out to Gallipoli. He took part in the heroic landing at Sulva (sic) Bay, but on August 21 he was reported missing. Formerly he was employed in the dyeworks at the mills of Messrs. Sugden Keighley, Ltd. He was very well known in the town.
